The idea of starting an Internet related business was started some 6 months before the first formal meeting of EDUNET (the first name conceived for the company) on 13 October 1998. A group of personnel from the teaching field got together and discussed on the ways and means to use the service of computers in general to impart better education to the students. The initial idea was to create an intranet server for the use of the member organizations. With time, it gathered momentum to get information from the world wide web and thus EVEREST NET was born, which primarily focuses on the education sector but also gives the Internet facility to the general public.
Along with this idea, the shareholding base was broadened, who are primarily the people engaged in the education sector and those who encourage enterprising young talent.
